Keep in mind while interactive with the tattoo you should do so with CLEAN, WASHED HANDS.
Your artist applied a “Second Skin” to protect your new tattoo. Keep it on for the recommended duration provided by your artist (usually 24-72 hours). This protective layer aids in preventing infection & accelerates the initial healing phase. If the wrap becomes compromised in any way that allows outside moisture to enter, or i ink sacks form, remove it promptly.
When it is time to remove the Second Skin, do it gentle in the shower. Use lukewarm water and mild anti-bacterial, fragrance-free soap. DO NOT RUSH; let the water loosen the adhesive.
Gently wash the tattooed are using your fingertips, not a washcloth or sponge. Use a mild anti-bacterial, fragrance-free soap & avoid scrubbing. Pat the area dry with a clean paper towel and wait 15 minutes to ensure it is fully dry.
Purchase a bran-new, sealed product, such as Hustle Butter, Aquaphor, or A&D Ointment specifically for your tattoo to prevent any risk of cross-contamination from prior use. Before each application, ensure steps 1 & 4 are carried out diligently. Use a fresh popsicle stick every time to apply the product, avoiding over-application or contamination. Refrain from using your fingers to handle or apply the product, even after washing them. Repeat this procedure as needed for 5-7 days or until the skin peeling or tiny bumps form.
Switch to moisturizer like Hustle Butter Lotion, Cetaphil, Lubriderm, or Nivea. For each application, complete steps 1 & 4. Use a fresh popsicle stick every time to apply the product, avoiding over-application or contamination. Continue this process as needed until the tattoo loses its’ sheen or begins to flake.
Ensure you avoid bar soaps to prevent cross-contamination. We suggest using antibacterial liquid soaps such as Hustle Butter Bubbles, Dove, Dial Gold.
We highly recommend Hustle Butter, available at Ulta, Amazon, and their official website. In case it’s unavailable, we suggest Aquaphor, which provides various options, including a handy body spray, which is ideal for hard-to-reach tattoos and applies perfectly with no popsicle sticks. When using products from tubs, use a disposable popsicle stick to scoop out and apply a thin layer. Ensure you use brand-new tubs and disposable popsicle sticks to prevent cross-contamination, rather than using fingers even after washing hands.
We suggest using lotion with a pump dispenser. Our preferred options include Hustle Butter Lotion, CeraVe, Lubriderm, Cetaphil, and Aveeno. Keep in mind that even after the tattoo is healed for the best long-term heal keep moisturizing!
Applying sunscreen can shield your tattoo from harmful sunrays, preserving the vibrancy of the ink. We suggest using any sunscreen product, including stick formulations for convenient application and portability. Remember to apply sunscreen only after your tattoo has fully healed. In the meantime, protect your tattoo from sun exposure by wearing long sleeves or staying indoors.
